The Pacific Islands Private Sector Organisation (PIPSO) launched its Business Disaster Support toolkit.

With support from UNDP and SPC, they developed the toolkit and a manual that includes some basic instructions on how best to use the toolkit. They also have a Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Template which businesses can use to ensure they can face disasters when these strike.

Sunergise was founded in 2012 as the first pan-Pacific solar power utility by a group of entrepreneurs and veteran investors. Their projects include Fiji’s first solar poultry farm, 1.1 MW solar project for Coca Cola Amatil in Fiji, 783kW solar project for Iririki Resort in Vanuatu, 273kW solar project for Mark One Apparel in Fiji.

RB Patel Supermarkets now have 306 kW capacity solar installations at three of their supermarkets in Fiji. The project was implemented by Sunergise.

The Fuel Retailers Association in Fiji is preparing to introduce a 10 Fiji cents surcharge on plastic bags at all convenience stores at service stations from 1st August 2017. The measure is intended to make customers consider their plastic usage and its impact on waterways and marine life.

From the Federated States of Micronesia, green banana Paper is making wallets and other accessories out of paper made from banana trees, a resource that many let go to waste once the bananas are harvested.

DHL E-Mobility. Thanks to an array of StreetScooter vehicles, developed and manufactured inhouse, and some 10,500 e-bikes and e-trikes, Deutsche Post DHL Group today operates the largest electric fleet in Germany. For the good of the environment and its customers, the company plans to replace its entire mail and parcel delivery fleet in the mid-term with electric vehicles that are charged with electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
